THE PLOT

It’s 1923 in New Orleans. Welcome to the grand opening of the fabulous Roostervelvet Hotel. At a grand cost of $500,000, it is now one of the true architectural marvels of the city, and a natural home for its wealthiest and most powerful citizens.

Famed resort manager Pearl Pinchon is responsible for all this. A legend in her field, she has famously high standards, and will brook no compromise.

The nation is in the grips of a moral crusade, with Prohibition and the closing of the city’s glorious red light district, “Storyville”.

However, drinking and vice go on the same as ever, under the protection of the local authorities. The corrupt “Ring” that controls all politics, ruled by Mayor Behrman, love a good drink as much as the next man – perhaps more.

Prohibition brings high society rubbing elbows with the criminal class in ways they never expected, as all come together for this grand opening…
